It’s a free website full of interactive simulations to learn in a fun, visual, and engaging way.
What is PhET?
PhET is a project from the University of Colorado that offers hundreds of free simulations in:
- Physics (forces, electricity, waves…)
- Chemistry (atomic structure, reactions…)
- Earth Science
- Mathematics
- Biology (genetics, ecosystems…)
The simulations are interactive: you can touch, move, test, change data and see what happens—just like in an educational video game.
How do you use it?
- Go to the website: https://phet.colorado.edu/
- Choose the subject you’re interested in (e.g., “Physics” or “Mathematics”)
- Click on a simulation and… start exploring!
You can use them directly online or download them to use offline.
Examples of interesting simulations
- Build an Atom – Link
Understand atomic structure and the periodic table of elements. - Forces and Motion – Link
Learn how forces act on an object. - Circuit Construction Kit – Link
Build a circuit with batteries, light bulbs, and switches! - States of Matter – Link
Watch particles in action in solids, liquids, and gases. - Energy Forms and Changes – Link
Understand the relationships between heat, temperature, and energy transformations.
Why is it useful?
- Helps you visualize concepts that can sometimes be hard to understand
- Makes you learn by doing
- Can be used alone or with classmates
- Perfect for reviewing, practicing, or preparing a presentation
Do you need to register?
No! You can use the simulations for free and without registration.
Can I use it on a tablet?
Yes! Many simulations are mobile-friendly. Just use a modern browser (like Chrome or Firefox).
